Michelle Mason headshotCHICAGO (June 1, 2021) — Association Forum has announced that Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE, President and CEO, has accepted the position as the next President and CEO of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), effective September 1, 2021.  Mason, who has led Association Forum since 2014, will succeed Susan Robertson, CAE.

“Association Forum is very proud of Michelle,” Board Chair, Paul Pomerantz, FASAE, CAE, said. “She has earned a national reputation for her leadership of the organization which became increasingly influential and grew substantially in both programs and revenue.  She provided steady and confident leadership during the pandemic crisis.  Moreover, with its Welcoming Environment® initiative, Association Forum established itself as a thought leader in diversity, equity and inclusion.  She will be missed.  One benefit of Michelle’s transition is the opportunity to bring the national association community closer.”

“It has been an honor to serve the association community of Chicagoland over the past seven years”, Mason said. “I am grateful for the board of directors, our dynamic membership and committed industry partners that have believed in me and supported my leadership, as well as the amazing staff teams I have been blessed to work with. I look forward to building a stronger partnership between ASAE and Association Forum in the years to come.  Chicago has provided a great foundation to nurture my professional growth with its civic engagement and cultural vibrancy.  Thank you!”

Pomerantz added that he has appointed Denise Froemming, CAE, Association Forum Board Chair-Elect, to chair the search committee for the next President and CEO of Association Forum.  Association Forum will make additional announcements regarding the transition plan in coming weeks.  “We are looking forward to working with Michelle and the capable Association Forum staff to assure a smooth transition in the months to come.”
