How did you come to the association industry?
I was encouraged to look into this industry by my mother who loved her association job. After doing some research, I knew it was the perfect place for me to settle into my professional career. I am currently working at my second association and have nearly 4 years of this work under my belt!
What is your favorite part of your job?
With experience working for two healthcare associations, I have become incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work closely with our members to help advance the field and ultimately improve multidisciplinary patient care. It is rewarding to support professionals who are passionate about making a difference in their field.
Additionally, working with various teams within the organization allows me to bring together different perspectives and expertise, which enhances our collective impact. The overall collaborative nature of the work keeps it dynamic and fulfulling!
Tell us about a time that your involvement in this community had an impact on your career or life.
During my time with my first association, I was given the opportunity to take on responsibilities outside my position, which ultimately put me on a fast-track to learn and grow. Because I had advocates all around me who encouraged me to voice my opinions and ideas, I was ready to take on a leadership position in my next role.
Tell us something about you that we wouldn’t find on your LinkedIn profile.
I am a big proponent of the cheesy quote, “teamwork makes the dream work.” Unlike other industries, the association world is open to the idea that the entire staff and membership are helping one another work toward common goals. For us, those goals ultimately lead to saving lives.
